Dubai Airshow 2025: E-System Solutions Unveils FPV Drones Inspired by Combat Experience in Ukraine

Development of Advanced FPV Kamikaze Drones: E-System Solutions’ Latest Innovations

E-System Solutions, a joint Emirati-Belarusian enterprise, has unveiled its new lineup of small combat First-Person View (FPV) drones at a recent aerospace exhibition. Drawing upon combat lessons learned during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, these drones represent a significant advancement in modern battlefield technology.

Key Features of the FPV Kamikaze Drones

  1. Fiber-Optic Control Mechanism:
    • These FPV drones utilize fiber-optic cables, ensuring resilience against electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures, a critical attribute in contested environments.
  2. Kamikaze Drone Specifications:
    • Payload Capacity: Capable of deploying warheads weighing between 1.5 kg and 5 kg.
    • Operational Efficacy:
      • Effective against light armored vehicles (LAVs) and ground-based aircraft.
      • The lethal radius for light armor stands at approximately 3 meters, while personnel within 7 meters are also at risk.
    • Warhead Design: The high-explosive fragmentation warhead produces both cylindrical and axial fragmentation upon detonation.
    • Range: The drone’s operational distance is contingent upon the length of the fiber optic cable, reaching up to 25 kilometers.
  3. Alternative FPV Drone Variant:
    • A secondary model incorporates a radio control channel.
    • This variant can be armed with either high-explosive fragmentation or shaped-charge warheads, designed to penetrate up to 200 mm of Rolled Homogeneous Armor (RHA).

Swarm Deployment Capability

The developers highlight the potential for these FPV drones to operate in coordinated swarms. This tactic can enhance battlefield effectiveness as multiple drones can target a single objective either autonomously or through a command detonation in-flight.

Future Prospects

E-System Solutions has completed the development phase of these drones and plans for combat trials are on the horizon. This technology marks a progression in unmanned combat systems, showcasing the potential utility of drone warfare in modern military strategies and operations.

As defense professionals observe the ongoing evolution of drone capabilities, the implications for tactical operations and force structure in various theaters of conflict will be noteworthy. The introduction of such advanced unmanned systems underscores the urgent need for continued innovation and adaptation within military forces around the globe.
