Editorial Standards
Who is responsible
DEFCROS News is published by DEFCROS, organiser of the DEFCROS Public Safety &
Defense Expo. Editorial responsibility for this publication rests with
Daniel Vazdar, Editor, who can be reached at [email protected].
Where an article concerns a company exhibiting at, sponsoring, or otherwise
commercially involved with a DEFCROS event, that relationship is disclosed in
the article.
How our reporting is produced
Most DEFCROS News items are news summaries: we monitor defense, cyber and
public-safety reporting from established outlets and official sources, and
publish a short account of a development with links to the reporting it came
from.
These summaries are drafted with AI assistance from the source material listed
at the foot of each article, and are subject to automated verification before
publication:
- a grounding check that compares every specific claim in the draft —
names, titles, dates, figures, quotes — against the source material, and
rejects the article if a claim is not supported;
- a duplicate check that prevents us publishing a second article about a
development we have already covered;
- pattern checks for known factual error modes.
Articles that fail these checks are not published.
The editor named above is accountable for what appears here, sets these
standards, and answers for corrections — but readers should understand that
routine news summaries are produced automatically rather than written and read
by a journalist before release.
Original reporting — interviews, analysis, and coverage produced from DEFCROS
events and our industry network — is written by named people and is identified
as such.
Sourcing
- Every news item names the outlets or organisations it draws on.
- We link to the reporting itself wherever we can. Where a source was found
through an aggregator that does not expose the publisher's own link, we name
the outlet without a link rather than route readers through a redirect.
- We distinguish what is confirmed by an official source from what is claimed
by a company, and from what is reported by a third party.
- We do not republish articles in full. Summaries are short and always point to
the original.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and visibly.
If you believe something here is wrong, email [email protected] with the
article link and what you believe is incorrect. Reports from the organisations
covered are welcome and are treated the same as reports from readers.
When we correct a material error after publication, the article carries a note
saying what was changed and when. We do not silently rewrite published claims.
Images
Images are used under licence, supplied as official press material, taken from
government or public-domain sources, used under Creative Commons terms, or
generated. Where an image is credited to an organisation, that credit records
the origin of the image.
If you hold rights in an image used here and believe it is used incorrectly,
email [email protected] and we will remove or correct it.
Advertising and sponsorship
Advertising on DEFCROS News is sold directly and is visually distinct from
editorial content. Advertisers and DEFCROS event sponsors have no involvement
in what we cover or how we cover it, and buying advertising does not obtain
coverage.
Independence
DEFCROS News covers the defense and public-safety sector that DEFCROS also
serves commercially through its events. Where those interests touch a story, we
disclose the relationship rather than avoid the story.
