Thales and Scipio Networks Join Forces to Close the Logistics Gap in Modern Warfare

European defence technology is taking a significant step forward as Thales and Scipio Networks have announced a strategic partnership aimed at solving one of the most persistent blind spots in modern battlefield operations - military logistics.

The Problem No One Wants to Talk About

While much of the defence industry's attention has focused on weapons systems, communications, and surveillance, the unglamorous world of military logistics has largely been left behind in the digital revolution. Fragmented coordination between units, limited real-time visibility of assets, and resupply timelines that simply cannot keep pace with the speed of modern operations have created a dangerous gap between what commanders plan and what actually happens on the ground.

The Solution: Two European Giants, One Integrated System

Thales is bringing its HexaForce platform to the table - a cutting-edge multidomain C2/C4I system already trusted by French armed forces and NATO allies. Scipio Networks is contributing APPIA, its automated logistical planning platform.

Together, the two systems will form an integrated solution designed to automatically connect the needs of engaged units to their current tactical planning in real time, creating a seamless link between what commanders decide and what the supply chain delivers.

Why This Matters for European Defence

This is more than a product integration. The partnership is explicitly framed as a Franco-German collaboration, reflecting a broader push for European strategic autonomy in defence technology - reducing dependence on non-European suppliers for critical command and control infrastructure.

The goal is to deliver a sovereign, interoperable solution for defence forces across Europe and beyond, built on the principle that speed, resilience, and European sovereignty must go hand in hand.

What Comes Next

With NATO allies increasingly focused on readiness and logistics after lessons learned from recent conflicts, the timing of this announcement appears deliberate. An integrated C4I and logistics platform of this kind could fill a gap that has long been acknowledged but rarely addressed at this level of ambition.
